Voiced

A civic platform that translates the lawmaking process into plain language. It tracks bills moving through Parliament, explains what each one would change, and shows who it affects — so citizens can follow the issues they care about and make a submission directly, no legal training required.

Our history

Founded in 2021, Legal Standpoint set out with a simple but urgent belief: that democracy only works when citizens understand the systems that govern them. We started by demystifying South African law — breaking down complex legal rights into plain, accessible language and connecting citizens to services they couldn't otherwise reach.

In 2022, that commitment took our founder to Germany, where she represented South Africa at the G7 Youth Summit under the theme “Resilience of Democracies” — engaging with young leaders from across the world on what it takes to protect and strengthen democratic institutions. The following year, our work was recognised by the Tech4Democracy initiative as one of the top 5 democracy-affirming startups in Africa.

Over the past several years, Legal Standpoint's platforms have reached more than 10,000 people, equipping them with the legal literacy and civic tools to participate meaningfully in the systems that shape their lives. Today, that mission continues through Voiced, our flagship initiative bridging the gap between citizens and the laws being written about them.
